As I’m sure some of you may have heard, Double D will be holding its final event on 28th December 2019. It was a very difficult decision for us to take, but we felt the time was right.

We have had a fantastically loyal group of linedancers support us every two weeks, some of whom have been coming to Double D since it began with Bill and Vi at The Leigh CIty Technical College in Dartford over 20 years ago. Many more of you have been coming to us since Val, Ken, Nigel and I took over the running of the club (maybe 10 years ago, I can’t remember now).

I think it’s fair to say that for many reasons a lot has changed during this time. These factors have had an impact on us, none more so than this year when we have continued to see a reduction in numbers and for the first time ever, found it difficult to make the club a financial success. We have been extremely proud of the great reputation Double D Linedance Club has had over the years and we wouldn’t want to tarnish that reputation by ‘running it into the ground’. Coupled with the fact that all three of us are now retirees, Nigel and I feel the time is right to take advantage of the new found freedom that the future has to offer.

I recognise that this will be disappointing news for many of you. However, every cloud has a silver lining and I am happy to say that Brenda will be resuming her Boogie Boots social events from 4th January next year. Many of these (I believe at least one a month) will be held on former Double D dates and will feature many of the same artists. Ken and I certainly plan to be there every month, hopefully we will see you there too.

I just wanted to get this out to you before our next dance so that you are aware of the situation. Apologies to those who have been missed off the circulation, I don’t have everyone’s contact details so if you know of anyone, please forward this to them.

Once again, thank you for your continued support over the years. We couldn’t have come this far without you.

We look forward to seeing you on 16th November.

Bev, Nigel and Ken xx
