Dec 11th
A full house greeted HENRY SMITH'S COUNTRY DREAMS at our pre-Christmas event.
A festive feel (highly recommended) was enhanced by the mulled wine and mince pies at the door, the arrival of a Christmas fairy and tree (thanks to Pauline & Caroline for dressing up) and Henry Smith soon contributed with a dash of Jingle Bells while singing 'Just To See You Smile'.
Henry, together with Clive Grant (bass guitar), Robbie (Chivy) Burns (lead guitar), Dave Heywood (pedal steel), and Neil Harris (drums) were in good form and gave us their usual entertaining evening of varied country music.
The mix included plenty of slower numbers alongside Henry's popular rendition of 'The Auctioneer' which is on his latest CD 'Laid Back'.
When Henry sung his self-penned 'Enough Tequila' he was lucky enough to be joined on stage by El Paso's very own trumpeter 'Three-note Trigger' whose unique performance had many in tears (of laughter) although from the reaction of his wife Maria it seems that you have to put your fingers in your ears for the best listening experience.
Thanks to Henry and his 'boys' for a good evening, to Trigger for his bit of fun, and a special thank you to all who have donated raffle prizes throughout the year and those whose contributions tonight resulted in a bumper raffle.
